Overview

Landlord and Tenant disputes in Ontario are regulated by the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 (RTA).

The Greater Toronto Area has become a hotbed for rental properties and has resulted in a growing number of landlords and tenants. Unsurprisingly, it has also resulted in a larger number of landlord and tenant disputes.

As a landlord or tenant, it is important to understand the RTA and the legal rights and responsibilities that it establishes. Under the RTA, an application can be made to the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) to exercise each party’s respective rights. The LTB is an unbiased administrative tribunal that deals with disputes and makes a determination based on the circumstances and evidence provided.

How can we help?

We understand that a dispute under the RTA can be a stressful and scary process for all parties involved. A landlord, for example, may need rent to make mortgage payments, and a tenant, may be evicted from their home.

At KYH Law, we take the time to discuss the LTB process and legal rights to our clients. We represent both landlords and tenants with issues such as the non-payment of rent, illegal acts, eviction and eviction notices, rent increases, and many more.
